Tamarind plant produce edible fruits. It is an evergreen plant. Tamarind plant can be 25m high and 7m wide. It is a slow-growing plant and can live more than 300 years. Growing Tamarind From Seed: If you want to grow tamarind plants from seeds, the boiling, and soaking of the seeds before planting is a good idea because tamarind seeds have hard shells. You can break the shells by boiling and soaking them for the healthy growth of your tamarind seedlings. Method Take a mug and fill it with hot water and put the seeds in it for 1 hour. Be careful when you sock the seeds in boiling water, wear gloves and safety glasses for protection. Or you can prepare seeds by soaking them in lukewarm water for 12 to 24 hours. After preparing the seeds for germination, put the seeds in 1/2 inches deep in the soil (potting soil = Compost + garden soil + coco peat) and cover slightly with the same soil. Give them water. And cover the entire container with plastic wrap. The seeds will germinate in 12 - 20 days. Best Tips For The Growth Of Tamarind Plants Climatic Requirement: Tamarind is a bright light plant. They can survive in the hot and moderate regions. Tamarind plant has ability to live in acidic climate. It can easily thrive in regions where the level of rainfall is 500 to 750mm. They need more care in winter season. Soil Requirement: Tamarind plants can survive in every kind of soil. Even it can grow in salty and alkaline soil. Fertile and loamy soil is the best for its growth. Its long and deep roots can easily develop in this type of soil. Nutrition: We don't have a piece of accurate information about the nutrition of the tamarind plants. Generally says, a one-year-old plant needs 10kg FYM + 100g nitrogen 50g P2o5 +100g K2o. The needed amount of these nutrients will increase with the age. Give more nitrogen in September and October months.
